Speech to Text — Free Online Voice Recognition
Speech to Text turns your voice into editable text in real time, right in your browser. Just pick a language, tap the microphone, and watch your words appear instantly — with a live recording timer and word count as you speak. Recognition keeps running through natural pauses instead of cutting off after a few seconds of silence, so you can dictate long notes, meetings, or articles without interruption. Your transcript is auto-saved locally and your voice never leaves your device.
How to Use
Select your spoken language from the dropdown — Vietnamese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Thai and more are supported.
Click the mic button and allow microphone access on first use. The button pulses red and a live timer starts so you always know it's recording.
Your words appear in the text box in real time. A grey 'listening' line previews what's being recognized before it's finalized, and recognition auto-resumes through pauses.
Stop anytime to edit the transcript directly, then copy it to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file. Your text is auto-saved if you close the tab.
Key Features
Words appear the moment you speak them, with a live interim preview showing text before it's finalized — no waiting for processing.
Recognition automatically restarts through natural pauses and silence, so long dictations don't cut off after a few seconds like most browser tools.

A running duration timer and live word and character count let you track length while dictating notes, scripts, or meeting minutes.
Your transcript is saved in your browser automatically. Accidentally close or refresh the tab? Your text is restored when you return.
Stop recording and fix typos, punctuation, or formatting directly in the text box before copying or exporting.
Copy the full transcript to your clipboard with one click, or download it as a plain .txt file ready for any editor.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my voice sent to a server?
No. The tool uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API for recognition. Audio is processed by the browser, not uploaded to our servers, and the transcript is stored only in your own browser.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome and Microsoft Edge offer the best support for the Web Speech API. Browsers like Firefox and Safari have limited or no support — if recognition doesn't start, switch to Chrome or Edge.
Why does recording sometimes restart on its own?
The Web Speech API stops after a short silence by design. To enable continuous dictation, the tool automatically restarts recognition in the background so you can keep speaking through natural pauses without losing your place.
Will I lose my text if I close the tab?
No. Your transcript is auto-saved in your browser's local storage and restored the next time you open the tool. Use the Clear button to remove it whenever you like.
Can I edit the recognized text?
Yes. Stop recording and edit the text box directly to fix any recognition mistakes, punctuation, or formatting before you copy or download it.
How accurate is the recognition?
Accuracy depends on your microphone quality, background noise, and how clearly you speak. For best results, use a good mic in a quiet space and choose the language that matches your speech.
